Just hearing the word “work- out” makes students tired, and even more so if they have to leave campus to sweat out their academic woes. Out of the com- munity colleges that surround Shoreline, SCC is the only one that does not offer its students free unrestricted access to a fitness facility.

Vet friendly. That’s how U.S. Veterans Magazine describes Shoreline Community College. With 458 veterans and dependants going to SCC, they make up a big chunk of SCC’s population of an estimated 5,500 students. “As soon as I can see my breath in the frosty air I know it’s just about time to pack the car and head toward Leavenworth for the Christmas tree lighting festival. Leavenworth is a small Bavarian village, two hours east of Shoreline. All the buildings are Bavarian themed with Bavarian restaurants lining the streets.
